2024 Second Primary Election on May 14, 2024

There will be a 2nd Republican Primary Election on Tuesday, May 14th, for the Lt. Governor and the State Auditor positions. Under state law, a second-place candidate in a primary may request a second primary if no candidate receives more than 30% of the votes cast in that contest. All voters who live in the district for which a second primary is conducted and are registered with the political party of the candidates are eligible to vote in the second primary.

A second primary is for the following contests:

Republican nomination for lieutenant governor:

Hal Weatherman

Jim O’Neill

Republican nomination for state auditor:

Jack Clark

Dave Boliek

North Carolina will hold its general election on Nov. 5, 2024. Voters will now be asked to present a valid photo identification when voting in person. If you do not have a valid photo ID card, you may obtain one from your county board of elections prior to the election, through the end of the early voting period.
