Obituary: Winston Delano Sutton

Winston Delano Sutton, known fondly as “W.D.” or “Shorty”,79, of Kinston, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 18th, 2024.

A visitation will be held at the home on Sunday, July 21st from 1:00-3:00. His services are private.

W.D. was born December 30, 1945, to Hubert Parrott and Janey Hardy Sutton. He was a native of Kinston, where he attended Grainger High School. He was the owner of Sutton Brick Company for 35 years before turning it over to his son, Watson. He enjoyed weekly outings with the “ROMEOS” and could often be seen cruising the streets in his little red car.

W.D. is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kylette Sutton. He is also survived by his children, Watson Sutton of Greenville and Brandon Sutton of Morehead City. His proudest title was “G-Dad” to Parks Sutton and Catherine Sutton both of Greenville. Nothing gave him more joy than watching Parks on the ballfield and seeing Catherine dance. He also leaves behind his sister, Brenda Jones of Kinston, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, W.D. is preceded in death by his brother, William (Bill) Sutton.

The family would like to thank the members of 3HC for their hospice care over the last few weeks, and to the many friends who stopped in to visit.
