Peach House Vernon Ave to close July 25th, new location at Lenoir Crossing opens soon

The popular local eatery Peach House is set to expand with a second location at Lenoir Crossing on Airport Road, near the hospital in Kinston. The current location at 412 W. Vernon Avenue will close tomorrow, July 25, 2024, as the business prepares to transition to the new site.

Joni McRae, the owner of Peach House, expressed enthusiasm for the move and the new opportunities it presents. "We're looking forward to getting established out there," McRae said, highlighting the excitement surrounding the expansion. "Things are falling into place. We are real excited."

The transition will occur in stages, beginning with the closure of the Vernon Avenue location. The new Lenoir Crossing location is expected to open in approximately a week. During this time, McRae and her team plan to focus on settling into the new space before starting renovations on the original location. "We want to settle in there first," McRae stated, emphasizing the importance of ensuring a smooth transition before tackling the next phase.

Renovations at the Vernon Avenue site are expected to take several months. During this period, Peach House will operate solely out of the Lenoir Crossing location. McRae mentioned that the team will reevaluate their plans and schedule for reopening the original location once the new site is fully operational. "Right now, the plans are not to close permanently," she clarified. "We will take a few months to get settled in out there and then plan to hit the ground running."

Peach House, established in 1987, has been a staple in the Kinston community, known for its fresh ingredients, pitas, wraps, and sandwiches. The cafe has built a loyal following with its homey atmosphere and reputation for quality confections.

The opening of the Lenoir Crossing location marks a significant milestone for Peach House as it seeks to expand its reach within the community. "We are hopeful to open by the end of the next week," McRae said, expressing optimism about the timeline and the future of Peach House.
