Obituary: Jerry Eddie Sutton
Jerry Eddie Sutton, 85, of Williston, SC passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
Born in Lenoir County, NC he was the son of the late Jerry Zeno Sutton and Ceba Jones Sutton and was married to Pocahontas Harper Sutton. Eddie joined the US Air Force at the age of 17 and served 1 tour in Vietnam then later joined the US Army and served 2 tours in Vietnam as a Green Beret in the special forces. Upon living in South Carolina, he joined the National Guard. He was a self-taught artist who never really shared his paintings until he was encouraged by Jim Harrison to share his talent with his friends. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Williston.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Douglas Sutton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Hontas Sutton of the home; his sons, Jerry Eddie (Debbie) Sutton, Jr. of Mesa, AZ, Mauri Stuart (Tracie) Sutton of Gilbert, AZ, Jeffrey Jerrel (Theresa) Jernigan of Dothan, AL and James Clay (Erin) Jernigan of Summerville, SC; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; a brother, David (Julie) Sutton of Kinston, NC; sister-in-law, Judy, widow of Douglas Sutton; nieces, Dee Sutton and Kelley King; nephews, Timmy Sutton, Kenny Sutton, David Sutton, Jr. and Casey Sutton.
