Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office arrests Kevin Morris after 40-minute standoff.

Following a 40-minute standoff, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Kevin Lee Morris, 41, for attempted murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a stolen firearm.

The shooting occurred on Aug. 7 Brown’s Plant and Seeds on Hwy 258 North.

At 8:10 p.m. today, the LCSO Special Response Team (SRT) surrounded a residence at 4074 Hwy 258 South, where Morris was located. After the standoff between Morris and the SRT, he was taken into custody by the unit at 9 p.m.

“The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division has spent literally hundreds of hours on this case and I sincerely appreciate their hard work,” Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers said. “We also would like to thank the Wake County Sheriff’s Office and Wake County Sheriff Willie Rowe for their assistance.”
