Discovery Lab Launches in September

Discovery Lab Launches in September

By Amber Hargett, Engagement Librarian

As the summer winds down and kids across our region head back to school, the Neuse Regional Libraries are excited to offer a new weekly recurring program for young ilbrary patrons. Discovery Lab combines some of our most popular programs  into a new exciting theme each month. Participants will enjoy STEM activities during week 1, cooking activities during week 2, gaming during week 3, and art projects during week 4. Discovery Lab kicks off the week of September 9 at the following Neuse Regional Library locations.

  • Comfort Public Library - Thursdays at 4:30 p.m.

  • Greene County Public Library - Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m.

  • Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library - Thursdays at 4:30 p.m.

  • La Grange Public Library- Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m.

  • Maysville Public Library - Thursdays at 4:30 p.m.

  • Pink Hill Public Library - Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m.

  • Pollocksville Public Library - Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m.

  • Trenton Public Library - Thursday at 4:00 p.m.

Our theme for the month of September will find us going back to school carnival style. We’ll turn learning into a day at the fair as we tie dye during week 1, cook corn dog muffins or carnival confetti pie during week 2, play Epic Roller Coasters on the VR headset during week 3, and create splatter art and enjoy magic fizzy painting during week 4. Stop by your local Neuse Regional Library to catch up with old friends and make some new ones as we kick off our afterschool program series.

If you have any questions about Discovery Lab or other Neuse Regional Libraries’ programs, please feel free to contact the Engagement Librarian at 252-527-7066, or via email at ahargett@neuselibrary.org.

Neuse News is a locally-owned small business startup in downtown Kinston. Our goal is to provide free, hyper-local news to Lenoir, Greene and Jones counties. The kind of news our grandparents read in a format fit for today's times.

We provide this by having supportive advertisers and we encourage you to click on their ads, shop with them, and eat with them. Every bit of financial support is important to help us sustain free, hyper-local news.

Please consider supporting Neuse News with as little as $5 one-time or via a monthly option. Every little bit helps us, help you.
