During August's District Work Period, I've had the pleasure of connecting with constituents and businesses across communities in Eastern North Carolina. I value this time back in NC-03 and directly hearing about the issues you care most about.
This past week, I had the opportunity to visit and meet with multiple businesses and organizations that provide essential services including family and child support, pharmaceuticals, and gene therapy treatments. Additionally, I hosted a roundtable discussion with local businesses regarding the upcoming expiration of critical provisions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and its potential impact on them as they plan for 2025.
I will continue fighting for the values of North Carolina's Third Congressional District. If you wish to stay more engaged and aware of what is happening in Washington and our District please follow me on my socials linked above or here: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.
Protecting Coastal Homes from Beach Erosion
Homeowners should not be forced to wait for their homes to be swept away before the National Flood Insurance Program is implemented.
We’ve seen so many beach properties destroyed in the last four years. Proactive planning will better serve beneficiaries, improve public safety, save taxpayer dollars, and protect the surrounding environment.
My Prevent Environmental Hazards Act would give folks with NFIP insurance greater flexibility to manage natural disasters.

Meeting with the Kiwanis Club in Greenville
It was a pleasure to meet with the Kiwanis Club in Greenville. I updated the group on critical issues facing America and shared insights into my key initiatives in Congress.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers who are dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.
I always appreciate the opportunity to engage with our community’s leaders to address issues impacting our district. Thank you for having me!
Touring One Place Child Advocacy Center
I had the privilege of receiving a tour of the One Place Child Advocacy Center in Onslow County from the Chief Executive Officer, Dawn Rochelle, and the Chief Advancement Officer, Ann Marie Raymond.
This organization is committed to ensuring every child is raised in a safe, nurturing environment so there are no barriers to them reaching their full potential.
For 25 years, One Place has worked to invest in children and families through public-private partnerships and end child abuse.
Hosting Tax Roundtable Discussion for Main Street Businesses
I hosted a productive tax roundtable focusing on the vital role Section 199A plays for Main Street businesses. This Tax Cuts and Jobs Act provision, which lets businesses deduct up to 20% of their qualified business income, is set to expire in 2025.
During our discussion, I heard directly from several business owners about the significant challenges they face if this deduction is not extended. If 199A is not extended, small businesses will see their tax liability climb to 43.4%.
Ways and Means Republicans are actively working to address these concerns and mitigate the impact as we approach 2025.
I value the insights from this discussion and am committed to ensuring our businesses’ voices are heard so they can continue thriving.
Visiting Harris Teeter Pharmacy to Discuss Drug Costs
I visited one of Harris Teeter’s pharmacies and saw firsthand how pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) drive up prescription drug costs and compromise patient care by interfering with supply chains.
Three PBMs control an overwhelming 80% of prescriptions, causing individuals and families to pay higher prices on prescriptions they rely on.
Financially benefiting from vulnerable individuals is incomprehensible. I am tirelessly advocating for policies that put patients at the forefront to ensure they receive the quality care they deserve at affordable prices.
Honoring Grand Master Byung Lee of Greenville
I honored a true inspiration in Greenville — Grand Master Byung Lee of King Tiger Tae Kwon Do.
Lee came to the United States from South Korea in 1988 and has taught in the area for decades. He recently received his ninth-degree black belt, the highest achievement in his field of martial arts.
Some of my fondest memories are learning Tae Kwon Do with my sons under Master Lee’s guidance. Our community is fortunate to have such a passionate and skilled teacher of the art.
Congratulations, Master Lee! Your dedication and leadership truly deserve this recognition.
