Two Lenoir County students win state AMVETS Americanism contest awards
AMVETS POST 1111 is proud to announce the winners of two State Americanism contests sponsored by the AMVETS, that were recently awarded here in Lenoir County. Paitley Rouse and mother Mindy were present at an awards ceremony at GI Joes Military Museum where she was awarded a monetary award for her Flag Coloring Contest Entry. Jezabel Huerta-Hernandez and her mother Ofelia was also present at GI Joes when Jezabel received a monetary award for her moving poster display. The awards were presented by the AMVETS Post Commander David Ricke, First Vice Commander Shep McLawhorn, State Chairman of the AMVETS Americanism Committee Chuck Spinney and President of the AMVETS Post 1111 Ladies Auxiliary. Their art displays competed against submissions all across the state and won. This now makes them eligible for national consideration.
