Obituary: Eddie Hudson Jr.

Kinston – Eddie Hudson Jr., 59, passed away on January 7th, 2025.

His funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 12th, at 2PM in the Chapel at Edwards Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Eddie was proceeded in death by his parents, Johnson Sellers and Barbara Jean Sellers.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife of seven years, Melissa Hudson; sister, Jeannette Robinson (Elliott and Megan); and cherished pets, dogs, Max and Maggie, and cat, Bella, who brought him endless joy and companionship.

Eddie was a dedicated painter and cherished family man. He spent over 20 years as an in-house painter before moving to Kinston, where he continued his craft with Cornerstone painting. Eddie embraced life’s simple pleasures, from music to time spent with his dogs Max and Maggie, but nothing brought him more happiness than moments shared with his beloved grandkids. Known for his quick wit and easy-going nature, Eddie had a gift for spreading laughter and joy wherever he went.

As a child, Eddie dreamed of being a comedian – or, as he liked to call it, a “comedi-man.” While he never took the stage, his humor and kind spirit touched the lives of everyone around him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lenoir County SPCA in Eddie’s memory, 3200 US-258, Kinston, NC 28504.
