Kinston Police arrest one, charge juveniles after Mitchell Wooten disturbance
Kinston Police Department Responds to Disturbance, Arrests Adult, Charges Multiple Juveniles
On January 25, 2025, at approximately 2:56 AM, the Kinston Police Department's D-Squad responded to a disturbance at an apartment in Mitchell Wooten. Upon arrival, officers encountered a large group of individuals, primarily juveniles, and detected a strong odor of alcohol.
The initial call came from 18-year-old Xziea Smith, who was involved in a heated argument with her 16-year-old sibling. As officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, both Smith and her sibling physically assaulted the officers. At this point, additional juveniles also began resisting the officers' efforts.
Smith was arrested and charged with Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, Aiding and Abetting Underage Possession of Alcohol, Disorderly Conduct, and Misdemeanor Child Abuse. She was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
The juveniles present at the scene were released to their parents, and officers will pursue juvenile petitions at a later date.
