Kinston man arrested for elder abuse and assault

A Kinston man was arrested Friday for allegedly abusing an elderly woman.

Anthony Lynn Harris, 67, was arrested by Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office A-Patrol deputies who responded to a domestic assault call in the 3700 block of N.C. 55 West. Before arriving, Lenoir County Communications advised the deputies that Harris was beating an elderly female at the residence.

Deputies arrived at the scene and detained Harris. During the investigation, deputies discovered the elderly victim had been physically assaulted and sustained a deep laceration to her arm. Lenoir County EMS was called to the scene to treat her injuries.

Harris was arrested and transported to the Lenoir County Magistrate’s Office, where he was charged with one count of felony abuse to an elder with injury and one count of assault on a female. He received a $75,000 secured bond for the charges.
