Obituary: Edward Earl Moody

Edward Earl Moody, Sr., 82, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 15, at Spring Arbor of Wilson with his family by his side.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 23, at 3:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Kinston, with burial to follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home beginning at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 23, prior to the service.

Ed was born on January 3, 1943, in Lenoir County to Ralph and Verdie Tyndall Moody. He and his beloved wife, Donna, were set to celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary on March 2. Ed loved his family. After graduating from Moss Hill High School, Ed worked as a mechanic for his father at Ralph Moody’s Garage while pursuing his education in the evenings at Atlantic Christian College. Known for his meticulous nature, precision, and strong work ethic, Ed was never afraid to embrace new challenges. Over the years, he was actively involved in multiple dealerships across Eastern North Carolina.

Ed is survived by his wife, Donna Rouse Moody; sons, Eddie Moody and wife Lynne, Doug Moody, and wife Heather; grandchildren, Mackenzie Moody Smith (husband Caleb), Mitchell Moody (wife Bethany), and Parker Moody (wife Breanna); great-grandchildren, Jameson Smith, and Harrison Moody; his brother, Ralph Moody; Sister-in-law, Margaret Moody; and nieces, Marilyn Phipps, and Kristy Moody (husband Josh).

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harry Moody. He was a faithful, long-time member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church.
