Fire breaks out at Foss Recycling in La Grange
LA GRANGE – A fire broke out at Foss Recycling on Tuesday morning, prompting a swift response from first responders and emergency services. The La Grange Fire Department, along with mutual aid departments from Lenoir and Wayne counties, worked to contain the blaze at the metal recycling facility located on U.S. Highway 70 West.
La Grange Fire Chief Ryan Riley expressed gratitude for the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies, including Lenoir County Emergency Services, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, and Lenoir County EMS.
“Large fire this morning for La Grange Fire Department. I am thankful no one was hurt at the facility or any first responders. I also want to thank all of our mutual aid departments in Lenoir and Wayne counties. It was a team effort from all fronts with great success,” Riley stated.
He also acknowledged the cooperation of the company’s owners, who provided assistance with heavy equipment and personnel. “Although a huge loss for the company, they were very appreciative for all the help they received from the fire departments during this event,” Riley added.
Authorities have not yet released details on the cause of the fire. Emergency crews remained on-site to monitor the situation. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
