Chadwick Stokes, an 8th-grade history teacher at E.B. Frink Middle School, has been honored as the Social Studies Middle School Teacher of the Year by the North Carolina Council for the Social Studies. The recognition was announced at the Lenoir County Public Schools Board of Education meeting on February 3rd.
Superintendent Williams noted that the NCCSS's mission is "to serve the members of their organization in providing support to social studies educators across the state by publicizing and promoting the importance of social studies in the curriculum."
Stokes stated that the award is “a reflection just upon the support here in the county and I think it's a reflection also to the importance of what we're doing and that's making history education very interactive and hands-on." He will be presented with the award at the annual statewide social studies conference later this month.
