Jones County Honors Emergency Responders, Good Samaritan at Annual Appreciation Dinner
Jones County Emergency Services and the Jones County Fire & EMS Association hosted an Emergency Services Appreciation Dinner to recognize the dedication and bravery of local fire and EMS personnel. Among those honored was James Mercer, a local good Samaritan who heroically pulled a victim from a burning home.
The evening also featured the presentation of two major awards:
Medical Responder of the Year: EMT Brett Pike, Comfort EMS
Firefighter of the Year: Assistant Chief Matthew Berg, Comfort Fire Department (accepted on his behalf by his wife and daughter)
Organizers noted the award process was impartial, with nominations reviewed by a panel of unaffiliated fire and EMS professionals. County officials extended their gratitude to all first responders and the sponsors who made the event possible.
