Southern Pharmacy Services, a member of Guardian Pharmacy Services, has announced the grand opening of its latest location in Gainesville, Virginia. This strategic expansion aims to enhance the company's comprehensive pharmacy services for residents in various care settings, including assisted living, skilled nursing, behavioral health communities, and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Virginia and Maryland.
“We originally opened the first pharmacy in Pink Hill,” said Marybeth Terry, co-president of Southern Pharmacy Services and Pink Hill native. “Our service area is North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland.”
While already providing services to residents in North Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland through existing pharmacies in Wytheville, Va., Kernersville, N.C., and Pink Hill, N.C., Southern Pharmacy Services has demonstrated significant business growth in Virginia over the past three years. This expansion has resulted in the company broadening its customer base by an impressive 50%.
The inauguration of the Gainesville pharmacy marks a significant milestone for Southern Pharmacy Services as it celebrates its 20th year in business. This achievement underscores the company's unwavering commitment to delivering quality pharmacy services to the communities it serves.
”We’re celebrating our 20th year in September,” said Terry. “A lot of our employees have been with us for all 20 years.”
Terry emphasized the high demand for their specialized services in eastern and northern Virginia. She highlighted the positive impact the new pharmacy will bring to local communities by ensuring easy access to essential medications and personalized care.
“A lot of the Pink Hill team will be supporting the northern Virginia pharmacy,” said Terry.
The addition of the Gainesville location will lead to a 10% increase in Southern Pharmacy Services' workforce. The company has plans to hire skilled pharmacy staff over the coming year, further enhancing their ability to cater to the needs of their growing clientele.
The new state-of-the-art 10,500-square-foot facility boasts a range of advanced features aimed at optimizing pharmaceutical services. Among them, the facility houses a training center for in-service and clinical instruction, a USP-797-compliant clean room for compounding medications and distributing IV services, and cutting-edge technology and automation systems.
