SECU Foundation is pleased to announce a $40,000 grant for the Lenoir County non-profit Hope Restorations. The funding will support the expansion of its program model for adults recovering from addiction and/or incarceration through intervention programs and job skills training in home restoration and renovation.
Local organizations from across Kinston, including Hope Restorations, Inc., the City of Kinston, the Kinston Police Department, Kinston Parks and Recreation, and the Red Cross, will join Wells Fargo for Welcome Home, a community enrichment project focused on East Kinston.
Xi Beta Upsilon is one of the two Kinston chapters of Beta Sigma Phi. In 2021-2022, XBU made donations to Dementia Alliance, Homeless Shelter, Hope Restorations, and Department of Social Services — all in Kinston. On the national level, XBU donated to disaster relief, Burn Center, and the military.
Graduating from Lenoir Community College was definitely a family affair when April Casey of Kinston, her two daughters, and her nephew walked across the stage for the High School Equivalency Certificate during the Transitional and Career Studies Graduation Wednesday in the Briley Auditorium.
Earlier this month, and for the third time, a fire ripped through a house in Kinston. A house on Glenwood Avenue didn’t even make the local news. However, this morning, as I sit here in my warm home preparing for Christmas, I can’t help but shed a few tears for the house on Glenwood. For the House of Hope that will no longer be built there.

Christian country band Jackson Heights will hold a benefit concert Saturday at Tanglewood Church of God in Kinston to support Hope Restorations.
Hope Restorations is partnering with Lenoir/Greene United Way and will be operating its ‘House of Hope’ ministries at the facility.
