State and local officials have a simple message – never drink and drive. Doing so this weekend could mean a trip to jail rather than to the beach or pool.
North Carolina Governors Highway Safety Program this Labor Day holiday to get impaired drivers off our roadways. Labor Day is one of the most dangerous weekends for travel behind New Year’s Eve, Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day. Over the 2019 holiday week, 10 people died and almost 600 were injured as a direct result of impaired driving in NC. Sixty-six additional lives were claimed due to speeding, distracted and sleepy driving.
This Labor Day, the Governor’s Highway Safety Program is joining forces with the North Carolina Trucking Association, the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety also known as (NETS), the North Carolina Highway Patrol and members of more than 500 law enforcement agencies around the state to help curb impaired driving.
Adkin High School will have its annual reunion with numerous events this Labor Day Weekend.
