Last week, Military, state/local government, academia, and industry leaders from around the state met for a Lunch and VIP Tour at the North Carolina Global TransPark (NCGTP). Also in attendance were representatives from the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) and the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC).
U.S. Senator Ted Budd and U.S. Congressman Gregory Murphy visited the North Carolina Global TransPark (NCGTP). Both guests were briefed on the recent aerospace and defense industry expansions at the NCGTP by Preston Hunter, Executive Director of the NCGTP.
The North Carolina Global TransPark in Kinston has new leadership after the park’s Executive Director John Rouse announced his retirement last week.
MasterBrand Cabinets will be expanding in Lenoir County and bringing new jobs to Kinston. The company made the announcement at Lenoir Community College’s Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing Center as part of the NC Global TransPark Economic Region Development. MasterBrands, a subsidiary of Fortune Brands Home & Security, Inc., will invest more than $13.5 million to expand production capacity at its manufacturing center in Kinston. The salary of the new jobs will vary, but the average wage for all the new jobs will exceed the median average for Lenoir County of $39,839.
The NC Global TransPark Economic Development Region held a ribbon-cutting and announced that flyExclusive will expand with a 24,000 square foot facility. The expansion will create 200 new jobs and will be an $8 million investment. flyExclusive is a subsidiary of LGM, and the ribbon-cutting was for LGM Enterprises’ facility.
LCC’s Aerospace & Advanced Manufacturing Center hosted an event Saturday, offering tours to the public and potential students, and treating attendees to a free barbecue dinner. Currently, around 120 students take classes weekly at the center, in programs geared toward manufacturing and aerospace careers, including computer engineering, mechanical engineering, computer-integrated machining and industrial systems.
Effective Aug. 10, The Lenoir County Economic Development Office merged with the North Carolina Global TransPark (GTP) to create a joint economic development agency.
