Samuel Kornegay, a seasoned emergency services professional, has been appointed Deputy Fire Chief of the Kinston Department of Fire and Rescue. Kornegay, who previously served as Deputy Director of Lenoir County Emergency Services, brings years of experience and leadership to his new role.
For his service to his state, and to his country, and on behalf of Senator Thom Tillis’s office, NC Representative Chris Humphrey and Tillis representative Adam Caldwell bestowed a flag flown over the capital to Gary Kornegay’s son, Samuel Kornegay. Gary Kornegay served in the National Guard for 16 years and the United States Air Force for four years and retired from the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office after 30 years of service. He died on November 16th, 2020.
Jerri King was named the Lenoir County Emergency Services director late last month.
LCES director’s final day on the job is Dec. 31.
