There will be daily chances for shower and thunderstorm activity today through Friday. A few of these storms have the potential to become severe with the greatest risk for severe weather being on Thursday.

There is increasing confidence that strong S to SW winds ahead of a cold front will bring at least minor impacts to the region on Saturday.
An active week starts today, with dangerous heat indices of 105-110 degrees expected today. Then, late this afternoon and especially this evening, strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, bringing a threat for damaging winds and torrential downpours with localized flooding. Some large hail and frequent lightning may accompany the storms as well.
We are watching for the threat of scattered to numerous thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Showers and some storms are possible tonight, but a better threat for a few severe thunderstorms arrives later Thursday afternoon and into the early evening ahead of a cold front. The best chance for a severe storm will be inland Eastern NC.
