Two arrested in Kinston drug bust involving 75 pounds of marijuana

Two La Grange residents were arrested by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office on Monday after more than 75 pounds of marijuana was located at a Hullwood Drive residence in Kinston.

Michael Goodman, 25, and Alexis Johnson, 23, were arrested after the LCSO’s Street Crimes and Rapid Response (SCARR) and narcotics units conducted a drug investigation at 1908 Hullwood Drive. During the course of the investigation — aided by the Craven County Sheriff’s Office, the Havelock Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office — LCSO detectives obtained a search warrant for the Hullwood Drive address.

Upon execution of the warrant, more than 75 pounds of marijuana, along with various materials to distribute, process and package the drugs were located. Evidence was discovered on scene that linked Goldman and Johnson as suspects.

Goodman was arrested at the scene and charged with:

• Two felony counts of trafficking marijuana

• A felony count of conspiracy to traffic marijuana

• A felony count of possession with intent to sell/deliver Schedule VI

• A felony count of possession of marijuana

• A felony count of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling

• A misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia

Additional warrants for Johnson were obtained; with the assistance of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, she was located and arrested on a traffic stop, where she also received all the above charges.

Goodman and Johnson were both held in the Lenoir County Jail on no-bond holds due to being out of jail on pretrial release on previous criminal charges.

The LCSO would like to thank its surrounding law enforcement partners for their assistance in combating criminal activity in our communities.
