Snow Hill Primary gives out a weekly award called "Terrific Kid" awards. Each teacher at SHP chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal. On Fridays, these students are presented with an award and are congratulated for their hard work. Below are Snow Hill Primary's last Terrific Kid Awards!
Evans & Associates of Kinston and Lititz Mutual Insurance Company of Pennsylvania have partnered to together to present a matching donation to the Lenoir Community College Foundation in support of student scholarships. This is the third consecutive year these companies have partnered to give to the LCC Foundation.
The Lenoir County ABC Board recently presented a check of $15,000 to Lenoir Community College to assist in alcohol and drug awareness programs at the College.

That’s where the Lenoir County Public Schools leadership team found him Wednesday morning, helping students quiz each other on new vocabulary they’ve learned.
Officials named Arendell Parrott Academy student, Miss Carolina Jones (Kinston), as one of more than 16,000 Semifinalist in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth $26 million that will be offered next spring.
The D.A.R.E. program has officially returned to Lenoir County Public Schools, offering students an opportunity to learn about drug prevention, decision-making, and leadership. This 10-week program, aimed at fostering trust between students and law enforcement, was welcomed back to the schools with support from local officials and educators.
Arendell Parrott Academy kicked off its 60th year Thursday with a Founders Day celebration featuring Susan Parrott, sister of the school’s namesake. Parrott shared stories of her family’s role in creating the school in memory of her late brother, Arendell. The ceremony also included the induction of the 2024-2025 Honor Council, honoring the Academy’s tradition of integrity. Dr. Ike Southerland, the longest-serving Head of School, reflected on the school’s growth and lasting legacy.
Governor Roy Cooper proclaims September as Smart Start Month. This proclamation acknowledges the Smart Start Network's commitment for over thirty years to ensuring all North Carolina’s young children enter school healthy and prepared for success. The Partnership for Children of Lenoir & Greene Counties is a proud member of the Smart Start Network.
The Caswell Center Foundation recently presented a $60,000 check to the Lenoir Community College Foundation Scholarship Program to assist students interested in pursuing a degree in developmental disabilities and health-related fields.
Stephen D. Faircloth of Beulaville has devoted much of his time to law enforcement, and now he has chosen to plan for his future with the help of Lenoir Community College’s online curriculum.
