Pelicans' Brandon Ingram named 2019-20 Kia Most Improved Player

From the beginning of the season through March 11, Ingram averaged 24.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.0 steal in 34.3 minutes in 56 games. He was one of seven players to average at least 24.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steal, joining fellow 2020 NBA All-Stars Dončić, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, James Harden and Russell Westbrook of the Houston Rockets, LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Kawhi Leonard of the LA Clippers.

Down East Wood Ducks to host inaugural Kinston Cornhole Classic, presented by Poole Realty

The Down East Wood Ducks will host the inaugural Kinston Cornhole Classic, presented by Poole Realty on Saturday, November 7th. The one-day event is open to two-person teams and will be divided into two divisions: Advanced and Social. The top three teams in each division will walk away with a cash prize. Advanced teams will be playing for a $1,000 first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place prize. The Social teams (no professional players) will be playing for $100 first place, $60 for second place, and $40 for third place prize.

NCHSAA updates on fall sports

On Wednesday, July 8, at 11:00 am, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) held a zoom meeting with Commissioner Que Tucker to discuss what could be happening with sports for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year. Although no major announcements were made, it is clear that unless conditions are well enough for athletes to be in the classroom, they will be holding off on their return to the field or court. Tucker stated, “Education comes first. Athletics is an extension of the classroom.”
