Three LCPS schools will open the 2022-2023 academic year under new leadership after the Lenoir County Board of Education approved principal and assistant principal assignments recommended by Superintendent Brent Williams on Monday night.
Lenoir County Public Schools posted on their Facebook page, “Congratulations to Patrick Phillippe, principal of Woodington Middle School for the past eight years and, as of this morning, the LCPS Principal of the Year for 2022-2023.”

I have strong opinions about education policy in North Carolina and beyond. Maybe you’ve noticed! I’ve also been researching and writing about the subject for a very long time. During my first stint as a newspaper reporter in 1986, I covered raucous debates about a potential merger of school districts in Nash County, Edgecombe County, Rocky Mount, and Tarboro. My first syndicated columns on education policy ran in state newspapers a few months later.
Mayor Hardy, alongside local area pastors, made a public plea for cooperation within the community to help stem the violence Kinston has experienced. Hardy also addressed the ones committing the offenses, “We ask that you stop the senseless gun violence. Even though its targets are intentional, it’s not warranted for our city.”
On 07/10/2022 around 3:45 pm, the Greene County Sheriff's Office responded to a call for service at Ramblewood Apartments on 2nd St in Snow Hill, in reference to a subject with a firearm causing a disturbance. Greene County Deputies along with Snow Hill Police Department responded to the area. Upon arriving Deputy Sgt Phillip Heck viewed a male subject described by the caller, enter an apartment.
Every other year on the July 4th weekend, the descendants of Henry S. and Lady Belle Parker gather for a family reunion. Before this year, our last reunion took place in 2018. We set the next reunion for 2020 – and then 2021. Each time, COVID interfered. We decided to shoot for this July and finally made the reunion a reality.
