A car show is planned for June 17 at Lenoir Community College to benefit 2-year-old Colby Clayton of La Grange who has been diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive Retinoblastoma, cancer of the eye. The benefit will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Registration will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. with prizes awarded at 2:30 p.m.
A male inmate currently being held at Kinston’s W.E. Billy Smith Detention Center and a Rocky Mount woman not in the jail have had warrants sworn against them for felony conspiracy to smuggle narcotics into the facility, among other charges.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2023, at First Baptist Church, 2600 Rouse Road, Kinston, NC. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jon Hoover and Pastor Don Causey officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 4488 West Vernon Avenue, Kinston, NC.

Local students in Lenoir and Greene Counties were recently recognized for their outstanding work in Greene Lamp's 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance Program. The competition, which was open to middle and high school students, asked participants to submit an original essay, song, or poem on their reflection and research regarding the impact of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
