WINTERVILLE — Inclement weather has postponed Tuesday's Game 2 Area 1 East Finals matchup between Kinston Post 43 and Pitt County Post 39, setting up a doubleheader Wednesday.
The games will be played at Pitt Community College, starting at 5 p.m. Kinston Post 43, who would've hosted Game 3, will be the designated home team for the second contest.
Kinston Post 43 coach Ty Eason said the rain delay has more benefits for the opposition, but sees some advantages.
"For both teams, it gives a chance to rest a few arms pitching-wise," Eason said. "We're not as worn out because we haven't played as many games as Pitt, but one advantage we could have is with Peyton Howard. He threw fewer than 80 pitches in Tuesday's game, and if the series is stretched until Saturday he could go again.
"We have to finish this series by Saturday because of the American Legion rules. We get six days to play five games and hopefully the rain holds off some. There's a slight chance for rain (Wednesday) and a great chance Thursday, so we're hoping for the best."
Kinston Post 43 trails the best-of-five series 1-0.
