The City of Kinston has scheduled a significant baseball announcement for Tuesday, September 17th, at 11 a.m. at Grainger Stadium, in front of the Mother Earth Pavilion.
The Greene Central Rams are on top of the baseball world again. With an 8-5 win over Burns High School in game two of the NCHSAA 2A State Championship series, the Rams clinched their sixth state title, supported by both their seniors and underclassmen.
Baseball Hall of Famer George Whitfield created an annual scholarship through the Lenoir Community College Foundation honoring the memory of Gilmer Minor, III who played college football and baseball and who continued to support athletics throughout his life.
Greene Central hosts the annual baseball camp. This camp is put on through Greene County Parks and Recreation Department and Greene Central has hosted this camp for over 40 years. This four-day camp is open for kids aged 5-13 and it covers the fundamentals of baseball. Hitting, throwing, catching, baserunning, and position play were all covered during this camp.

The smell of fresh-cut grass, the sound of birds chirping, and the sight of a warm, breezy day in the middle of spring in Kinston, NC make everything else seem undesirable, except the invitation to play baseball. Baseball is not only America’s favorite past-time. It’s Kinston’s too.
Zebulon, N.C. – Despite falling behind early, the Down East Wood Ducks clubbed three home runs against the Carolina Mudcats, taking the 5-2 win Sunday afternoon. Owen White (W, 2-1) finished with a career-high 10 strikeouts in six innings to earn the Suddenlink Player of the Game.
Zebulon, N.C. – After sweeping the doubleheader yesterday, the Down East Wood Ducks struggled as they fell 14-10 to the Carolina Mudcats, Saturday night. Carolina clubbed three home runs against Down East pitchers and all four allowed at least two runs.
Zebulon, N.C. – With two outs in the top of the ninth, the Down East Wood Ducks stranded the bases loaded and fell to the Carolina Mudcats, 8-6 Wednesday night. Cristian Inoa tallied two hits in four at-bats and drove in three RBI to earn the Suddenlink Player of the Game.
After a 19-10 loss, the Down East Wood Ducks rebounded with an 11-6 win over the Carolina Mudcats, Thursday night. Down East held Carolina scoreless through the first seven innings and had a huge offensive day with 11 runs.
Thanks to a two-run single by Cody Freeman, the Down East Wood Ducks (11-4) defeated the Charleston RiverDogs (8-7), 6-4 in ten innings on Thursday night. This is the second extra innings win of the season for the Wood Ducks as they continue to sit atop the Low-A East Central Division.
The Down East Wood Ducks announced Thursday, along with their food and beverage partner, Delaware North, some new concession items that can be found around Grainger Stadium during the 2021 season. Fans will be pleased to see some familiar menu items as well as some exciting new additions to the concessions lineup. The new food items that fans can expect to see this year start with Kinston’s own award-winning King’s BBQ. King’s BBQ will be used for the Bang Bang BBQ sandwiches, Bang Bang BBQ nachos (loaded nachos), and the Five-Tool Tater Tots (loaded tater tots).
The Down East Wood Ducks have unveiled changes to their 2021 ticket prices with a simple pricing schedule that features two ticket prices during the season. Tickets can be purchased at woodducksbaseball.com or by calling (252) 686-5164.
Earlier today, Major League Baseball (MLB) announced the 2021 schedules for all 120 Minor League Clubs. AAA clubs are scheduled for a 142 game season with all AA, High A and Low A clubs scheduled for a 120 game season. A feature of the 120 game seasons is that all series will be 6 games. In addition, all series will start on Tuesday and end on Sunday, so the Wood Ducks are scheduled to play 20 6-game series with 10 of these at home and 10 on the road.
