LCPS schedules school orientations for Aug. 20-22

The 16 elementary, middle and high schools operating on LCPS’s traditional calendar will hold orientation activities for students Aug. 20, 21 and 22, scheduled generally by grade span.

Here are the dates and times by school:

  • Banks Elementary – Thursday, Aug. 22, 5-7 p.m.

  • Contentnea-Savannah K8 – Thursday, Aug. 22, 5-7 p.m.

  • Frink Middle – Wednesday, Aug. 21, 5-5:30 p.m. for incoming sixth graders in the school gym, then until 7 p.m. in the school building; orientation for seventh and eighth graders, 5:30-7 p.m. in the school building

  • Kinston High – Tuesday, Aug. 20, 1-3 p.m. for incoming freshmen and their families; students and families will get a personalized introduction to the school and staff. Orientation for all students grades 9 through 12 will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Students taking College and Career Promise classes through Lenoir Community College must attend the mandatory orientation meeting with a parent at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, in the Performing Arts Center.

  • La Grange Elementary – Thursday, Aug. 22, 5-7 p.m.

  • Lenoir County Learning Academy – Tuesday, Aug. 20, 6-7:30 p.m.

  • Moss Hill Elementary -- Thursday, Aug. 22, 5-7 p.m.

  • North Lenoir High – Tuesday, Aug. 20, 9-11:30 a.m. for incoming freshmen; open house for all students 5:30-7:30 p.m.

  • Northeast Elementary -- Thursday, Aug. 22, 5-7 p.m.

  • Northwest Elementary -- Thursday, Aug. 22, 5-7 p.m.

  • Pink Hill Elementary -- Thursday, Aug. 22, 5-7 p.m.

  • Rochelle Middle – Wednesday, Aug. 21, 5-7 p.m.

  • South Lenoir High – Tuesday, Aug. 20, 6-8 p.m. for incoming freshmen; students will receive their schedules and bus information and walk the campus to meet their teachers.

  • Southeast Elementary -- Thursday, Aug. 22, 5-7 p.m.

  • Southwood Elementary -- Thursday, Aug. 22, 5-7 p.m.

  • Woodington Middle – Wednesday, Aug. 21, 5-6 p.m. for incoming sixth graders and 6-8 p.m. for seventh and eighth graders.

Lenoir County Early College High School, which operates on a different academic calendar, will hold three days of freshman orientation beginning July 30. Freshman parent orientation will be held from noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, and parent/student orientation for sophomores and juniors will be held at 6 p.m.
