I wonder if you or I, or any of us really realize what’s at stake in this November 3 election?
Folks, our nation as we have known it since our founding some 244 years ago is at a crossroads that we have never seen before. As I mentioned to our church congregation this past Sunday, this is the most important election in the history of our country. Let me tell you why – at least in this one man’s opinion.
Keep in mind that this is the way I personally see it – and I’m trying to look at it objectively. If Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and the Democratic party take over the control of our country, we will be transformed into a nation that is not even recognizable in its present form.
First of all, we will not have a Joe Biden administration; he will only be a figurehead. The party will maneuver around so that Kamala Harris will be in charge of all our political policies. As you may know, she is the most radical left-wing progressive in today’s Senate. Socialist and Marxist, Bernie Sanders, will be in charge of finances; and he will lead us into a socialist society never envisioned by our founding fathers. And if the Democrats control all three branches of government – it will only take a few months to accomplish this radical transformation.
Let me give you just a few of the building blocks of such a failed, fatalistic society:
Abortion even at birth will be on-demand and be rampant.
Free speech and Judeo-Christian beliefs will be criminalized.
$4 Trillion in new taxes will be unsustainable.
The Green New Deal will destroy our economy.
Open borders will grant citizenship to millions of illegal aliens, including criminals.
Voting rights will be allowed for felons and illegal aliens.
Rioting and mob rule will be like we’ve never seen before.
. . . and the list goes on and on leading us to be another Cuba or Venezuela.
Does all this sound like I’m an alarmist? Yes, it does, but the facts are there to prove it. At least that’s one man’s opinion that happens to be shared by most all conservatives. I’m an unaffiliated voter who is merely seeking the Truth. If you disagree and can show me I’m wrong, please let me know through your local paper, Neuse News, or Facebook. I’m open to hearing your view of why I’m wrong.
SO IS THERE ANY HOPE FOR OUR BELOVED AMERICA? I say yes, but it will take a miracle from God, similar to that of 2016. And it’s all based on God’s mercy. I’m reminded of the Biblical story of Abraham and Lot and the destruction of wicked Sodom and Gomorrah as recorded in Genesis 18 and 19. Abraham asked God if He would spare Sodom if He could find fifty righteous people in the city. God in His great mercy said, “I will not destroy it if I can find fifty righteous people in the city.” Abraham bargained with God and said, “what about forty-five righteous people?” God said, no I will not destroy it. What about forty. . . then thirty, then twenty, and finally ten. God said if I can find ten righteous people in the city, I will not destroy it. It turned out that Lot and his wife and two daughters were the only righteous people He could find – and except for those four, God destroyed not only Sodom but nearby Gomorrah.
THE GOOD NEWS for America is that I believe there are many more than the equivalent of fifty righteous (not perfect but righteous) people in America today. In fact, we are told that there are some 90 to 100 million Evangelicals in America as evidenced by the recent thousands upon thousands attending the recent Prayer Walk to the capital led by Franklin Graham; plus the countless ministries and mega-churches as well as small country churches throughout our land.
I’m asking you to join me and many others who are praying that God will extend His mercy to us once more and save our land again. We know we don’t deserve it, but as the poet observed “More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.”
So what can we do in addition to prayer? Here are three things we can do:
BE INFORMED! Look beyond the flawed personality of Donald Trump. Look at his policies that gave us in less than four years the greatest prosperity we’ve ever enjoyed; record job growth; record low unemployment. Look beyond the covid 19 pandemic which will end eventually, and look at the record affluence he has led us (as opposed to the failed policies that socialism promises). Beyond these, he supports Life, not abortion and he stands for religious freedom.
VOTE. Did you know that 30 million evangelicals are not even registered? Did you know that 25 million registered evangelicals did not vote in 2016? Folks, that’s sinful. We’ve got to correct that! All of us need to vote but be an informed voter!
PRAY FOR GOD’S MERCY. Maybe . . . just maybe God will hear the cry of His people to have mercy on us once more.
I believe that He will, but it will take a miracle to overcome the double-digit lead some of the polls are claiming.
Keep praying and keep looking up to God – and by all means vote for Trump!
