National Weather Service warns of overnight severe weather
According to the National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City, “Low pressure will track across South Carolina tonight and Eastern North Carolina tomorrow morning. The low will produce widespread showers and thunderstorms tonight into Monday. Late tonight and Monday morning is the best chance for severe thunderstorms. There is still uncertainty on the aerial extent of the severe weather threat which will be dependent on the exact track of the low.
“The main threats will be damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes. The storms will also produce large hail, torrential downpours and frequent lightning. Rainfall of 1.5-2" is expected with locally heavier amounts possible.”
