Lenoir County reports 8th COVID-19 death, Greene County and Jones County give updates.

The Lenoir County Health Department is reporting the eighth death in the county of a resident who had tested positive for COVID-19.

The patient was under the age of 65 and had several underlying medical conditions. To protect the family’s privacy, no further information will be released.

“We are so saddened to hear of this death,” Lenoir County Health Department Director Pamela Brown said. “My sympathies are with this family dealing with such a terrible tragedy.”

Snow Hill, NC | On Thursday, June 4th, the Greene County Department of Public Health reported four new lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive cases. The Health Department has since learned that one of those cases belongs to another county and that information has been transferred to that county (bringing our total to 84 cases). Since Friday, the Greene County Department of Public Health has received notification of 18 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive cases. That brings our total number of cases to 102. 

Out of the 102 lab-confirmed positive cases to date, 47 of the individuals have recovered, are doing well, and are out of isolation. Greene County currently has 48 active cases and the Health Department is monitoring those individuals. There are five other individuals currently hospitalized. Greene County has had two deaths.

Residents who feel they are in need of COVID-19 testing, need to call their primary care provider ahead of time in order to receive instructions on how to proceed.
