Library offers State-of-the-Art Media Lab

This month Neuse Regional Libraries are unveiling exciting new resources to our library users that will help them make 21st century digital content and explore new potential hobbies and career paths.Staff have been hard at work preparing our new Digital Media Lab at the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library and we are now ready to start helping library users create their own digital media projects such as music, video, 3D animation, and podcasts.

The Digital Media Lab gives our users access to the necessary software and tools for all digital media creation such as video editing/recording equipment, including a greenscreen, professional lighting, audio equipment for recording/mixing music, including high quality microphones, musical instruments, and recording/mixing software, along with the software to create 2D animations, 3D animations, and much more. On top of that, two monitor workstations completed with iMac 27 with intel processor, and a high graphic performance Windows 10 PC are available for users to do professional quality editing and processing.

The Digital Media Lab was made possible by a federal Library Services and Technology Act grant administered by the State Library of North Carolina. The Lab will foster learning by providing the resources necessary for local residents of all ages, including teens, with the resources necessary to learn valuable digital media creation skills. The Library hopes that the Digital Media Lab will inspire some of our talented local students and artists to develop the skills and passion necessary to become successful future musicians, broadcasters, and directors.

The Library will also provide hands-on staff assistance with using the equipment and will hold instructional workshops that will introduce our users to the things they can accomplish with our Lab. Slots with library assistance are limited, so be sure to reserve your spot well in advance. To get started, you just need a library card or a government-issued picture ID. Library card holders can schedule time in the lab in person, by phone at 252-527-7066, Ext. 134 or in the comfort of your home with the MyLibro app using your library card number. Those without a library card who want to use the lab can schedule in person at the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library. If you have any further questions referring to the Digital Media Lab please contact us.
