Accounting Technician - Cashier
$32,000-38,000 Annually
The Accounting Technician - Cashier is responsible for all aspects of payment processing, which requires the sound knowledge and application of cashiering principles and operations in a community college setting.
The duties of the Accounting Technician - Cashier include, but are not limited to:
Ensure the Cashier's area is staffed during business hours
Reconcile college checks monthly
Process payments and assist customers with questions or issues
Reconcile cash drawer daily and print end-of-day reports for review
Perform monthly reconciliations for various grants to ensure accurate reporting; prepare grant reimbursement requests
Provide technical information and instruction regarding applicable accounts receivable procedures and methods to students and college staff; interpret and explain rules and regulations; answer questions and resolve problems or complaints
Monitor inventory of various cashiering supplies and notify appropriate individual when an order is necessary
Prepare and track miscellaneous billings
Maintain college receipt records
Process students with third party sponsorships and prepare invoices for review
Monitor balances for various postage accounts and request additional monies as necessary
Prepare journal entries and check requests as needed
Maintain electronic database for accounts payable
Monitor receipts to ensure compliance with the College's Cash Management Plan
Prepare and submit monthly sales tax information
Review and log all printed accounts payable and payroll checks prior to disbursement
Other duties and projects as assigned by the Student Accounts Coordinator, Controller and/or Senior Vice President of Administrative Services/Chief Operating Officer
Qualifications
Associate degree in accounting, business administration or a related field from a regionally accredited institution; bachelor's degree preferred
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Excellent typing, public relations, communications and problem-solving skills
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Working knowledge of the Datatel Colleague system preferred

Typical office environment
Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone, computer, keyboard, mouse and some standing and walking
Evening and/or weekend hours as assigned
