NWS: Hazardous traveling conditions today for the start of Memorial Day Weekend

Hazardous traveling conditions today for the start of Memorial Day Weekend We can expect multiple rounds of scattered to numerous thunderstorms, some strong to severe, across much of eastern North Carolina beginning mid-morning through late tonight. The main threats today will be damaging winds and localized flooding, though a brief tornado cannot be ruled out. Heavy rain will make travel dangerous. Remember TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN - avoid any flooded roadways you encounter!

In addition, we are expecting a HIGH RISK for rip currents across all beaches from Duck to Surf City.
