Kinston man arrested after traffic stop reveals firearm and narcotics

In the early hours of Saturday, September 28, 2024, at approximately 4:00 AM, officers from the Kinston Police Department's C-Squad conducted a traffic stop on Dorian Powell, 39, of Kinston, for motor vehicle violations.

During the course of the stop, officers discovered a firearm and narcotics in Powell's possession. Given his status as a convicted felon, Powell was arrested without incident and charged with:

-Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

-Simple Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance
