Kinston Police Department Arrests Local Man for DWI and Resisting Arrest Following Hit & Run Incident

On Monday, September 30, 2024, at approximately 8:10 PM, officers from the Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad responded to a report of a hit-and-run incident.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers made contact with 31-year-old Charlie Sutton of Kinston, who was identified as a participant in the crash that involved a second unknown vehicle. During the investigation, Sutton exhibited signs of impairment and attempted to leave the scene. Officers intervened and took him into custody.

As the investigation progressed, Sutton was formally arrested for Driving While Impaired (DWI). After being transported to KPD Headquarters for processing, Sutton attempted to flee from officers but was quickly apprehended. He was subsequently placed in the Lenoir County Jail, facing charges of DWI and Resisting a Public Officer.

In addition to these charges, officers served Sutton with an Order for Arrest for an unrelated incident.
