A tragic hit-and-run at Kinston's Carver Courts Apartment Complex on Friday evening left a two-year-old girl dead and a 35-year-old man seriously injured. Kinston Police quickly identified and apprehended the suspect, Rashaun Wade, 22, the child’s father, who now faces charges of second-degree murder, felony hit-and-run, and DWI.

On Friday, September 27, 2024, at approximately 12:23 PM, officers from A-Squad responded to a report of a careless and reckless driver on Highway 70. Upon locating the vehicle, officers initiated a traffic stop involving the driver, identified as Richard White Jr., 39, of Broadway, NC.
On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at approximately 6:30 am, A-Squad officers conducted a vehicle stop with Jennifer Hutchens (50 of Raleigh) for motor vehicle violations. During the traffic stop officers suspected Hutchens was impaired and conducted a DWI investigation.
On September 3, 2024 at approximately 11:07 pm, officers responded to a vehicle crash on Highway 258 North. Officers arrived on scene and located Daniel Cooley (49 of La Grange).

On April 2, 2024, at approximately 5:00 pm, members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of a shooting that had taken place near the 2100 block of Viking Dr. Kinston, N.C. Officers made contact with the victims, and through further investigation with witnesses in the area, it was determined that there was a large fight in the area involving both males and females.
Officers on A-Squad were conducting a license checkpoint on S Queen Street. Officers encountered Bernard Smith (50, Kinston) and suspected impairment. Officers conducted their investigation and determined impairment. Smith was arrested for Driving While Impaired in placed in the LC Jail.
A Lenoir County deputy was arrested for driving while intoxicated, along with child abuse Monday morning.
