A Kinston man who was arrested following a narcotics investigation by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and the State Bureau of Investigation in 2023 has been sentenced.
On Tuesday, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office received a narcotics complaint from the public. Sheriff Jackie Rogers led an investigation — along with the Street Crimes and Rapid Response (SCARR) team and deputies from B Shift — at 3719 N.C. 58 South in Kinston. The investigation ended in the arrest of five individuals with numerous charges.
Officers from C-Squad encountered Jarviel Johnson (23) during a narcotic investigation. During the encounter, Officers located a concealed firearm, During the discovery of the firearm, Johnson began actively resisting. Johnson was arrested and placed in the LC Jail under a secured bond.

The search warrant was pursuant to a narcotics investigation.
On Thursday, November 17th, 2022, the Kinston Police Department responded to a narcotics induced overdose death at Nations Inn, 410 E. New Bern Road, Kinston, N.C. During the course of the investigation it was determined that Dusty Wayne Taylor, 34, of Kinston was the distributor of the narcotics.

This search warrant was part of an ongoing drug and criminal violation case. They were assisted in the investigation by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.
