As a member of Emergency Services with Lenoir County Government, you can make a difference! Lenoir County Government is seeking candidates for an Emergency Services Director. Candidates are responsible for directing the activities of emergency medical services, emergency management functions, county fire marshal’s office, and E-911 telecommunication functions. Duties also include providing coordination and serving as the County’s liaison to volunteer fire and rescue organizations. An employee will have extensive public contact, and the work requires a variety of technical and

detailed knowledge, and considerable independent initiative and judgement. The employee is subject to the usual hazards associated with emergency service functions including work, in both, inside and outside environmental conditions, hazardous fumes, dusts, odors, mists, and gases. This position is considered essential and requires reporting to work for inclement weather and as other needs arise within the division.

Minimum Requirements:

• Graduation from a four (4) year college with a degree in emergency medical services, disaster and emergency preparedness, fire science and administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to emergency services including communications, fire, EM and EMS operations.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement agencies, volunteer fire services, public officials, hospitals, schools, and general public.

• Possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License

Hiring Range: $95,694-$113,750
