Vivian Howard reimagines Chef & the Farmer experience
After a transformative journey spanning nearly two decades, Chef Vivian Howard has announced a new chapter for her renowned establishment, Chef & the Farmer. Originally opened in 2006, the restaurant gained acclaim for its innovative take on "country" cuisine in an unexpected setting.
In a recent statement on her website, Howard reflected on the evolution of her restaurant and her role within it. "The building, the business, and ultimately my gut told me it was time to re-envision what Chef & the Farmer would be," she remarked. This introspection led to the decision to temporarily close the restaurant in 2022, signaling a period of reflection and reinvention.
"The Next Chapter" of Chef & the Farmer will see Howard taking a more intimate approach to the dining experience. She plans to open the kitchen bar one weekend a month, sharing the line with trusted colleagues to offer a unique seven-course meal rooted in storytelling. The themes and dishes will evolve alongside Howard's own journey, reflecting her multifaceted identity as a mother, writer, TV host, and culinary innovator.
"We are offering two seatings each evening at 4PM and 7PM," Howard explained. Each seating will accommodate a maximum of 16 guests, ensuring an intimate and personalized dining experience. The fixed price per person is $300, inclusive of gratuity. Wine pairings and selections by the glass will also be available for purchase.
To reserve a seat for this exclusive culinary journey, guests can visit vivianhoward.com and select their preferred date and seating time. For those unable to secure a reservation, a waiting list is available for updates on upcoming dates.
“I want to be a part of your experience,” said Howard.
