Veterans' Roundtable: Introducing your veteran leadership

On behalf of the veteran organizations of Kinston, allow me to introduce your veteran leadership:

SALUTE- Chairman Stacy Heath

American Legion- Commander Shep McLawhorn

AMVETS- Commander David Ricke

AMVETS Auxiliary- President Hannah McLawhorn

VFW- Commander Richard Jones

Marine Corp League- Commandant Antonio Hardy

We are pleased to announce the first meeting of the organization Commanders and the Chairman of SALUTE.

This meeting and cooperation of the veteran organizations, including the American Legion, AMVETS, VFW, Marine Corp League, AMVETS Auxiliary, and SALUTE, represents the veterans of Kinston combining efforts to better serve our veterans and community.

 This alliance has long been the dream of leaders such as Eric Cantu (SALUTE) and many more. We are striving toward creating a stronger relationship with each other as well as the community.

From this, first of many to come, meeting we have created a calendar of events that will showcase the efforts of Kinston Veterans to restore community values and our willingness to continue to serve.

August 10th- Motorcycle ride to benefit SALUTE and their programs for veterans and community. Leaving from Boneyard Harley Davidson in Winterville. Registration at Boneyard  9:30 am till 10:30 am.  KSU 10:45. Returning to Boneyard at 1pm for food and fellowship. $20.00 per bike and $5.00 per rider.

September 7- Jeep Affair Open Course Day.  At the Fair Grounds. Sloppy Joes will be sold 11-2pm  

September 11- 911 memorial service at Pearson Park at 9am. Followed by a memorial service at the NC veterans home.

We will continue to update on future events that are in the planning stages.
