Lenoir County man charged with 22 counts of fraudulent checks

On July 1, 2024, SECU reported that 24-year-old Brandon Tripp of Lenoir County had deposited 24 fraudulent checks via mobile deposit. The Kinston Police Department's Investigation Division initiated an investigation into the matter. As a result, investigators obtained warrants for Tripp, charging him with 22 counts of uttering a forged instrument and 1 count of obtaining property by false pretense.

KPD's A-Squad located Tripp and served the warrants without incident. He was subsequently taken to the Lenoir County Jail, where he was held under a secured bond.
