KPD: Arrest made in homicide

Case Update

The Kinston Police Department has obtained arrest warrants for Thomas Mason (30) and Davon Williams (24), both of Kinston, in connection with the murder of Anzaryia Cobb on August 25, 2024.

On the morning of August 27, 2024, the Kinston Police Department’s SWAT team apprehended Thomas Mason at St. John’s Village Apartments. He was taken into custody without incident.

Later that evening, the SWAT team located and apprehended Davon Williams at his residence on S. Herritage Street, also without incident.

Neither of the suspects lived in the apartment complex.  Both individuals have been placed in the Lenoir County Jail and are facing the following charges:

Thomas Mason:

  • Accessory After the Fact (5 counts)

  • Felony Conspiracy (5 counts)

  • Felony Probation Violation

Davon Williams:

  • First Degree Murder

  • Attempted First Degree Murder

  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill

  • Discharging a Firearm Within the City

We would also like to extend a special thanks to the community members who provided vital information, helping to identify those responsible and bring justice for Anzaryia and her loved ones.
