At approximately 3:15pm this afternoon, La Grange Volunteer Fire Department, North Lenoir Fire & Rescue, and the North Carolina Forest Service were dispatched to 4871 Bulltown Road in La Grange, NC for a reported brush fire approaching a structure. Prior to arrival, the Lenoir County 911 Center advised responding personnel the structure contained commercial-grade fireworks.
Several agencies — including the Kinston Fire Department, Kinston Police Department, Lenoir County Emergency Services, North Lenoir Volunteer Fire Department and Southwood Fire Department — have been looking for a potential drowning victim in Kinston this afternoon. An eyewitness on the bank of the Neuse River behind the Family Dollar, 400 E. New Bern Road, Kinston, told officials he saw a woman along the bank of the river reach into the water to grab a bag. After watching her do that, he didn’t see her re-emerge from the river and, after going into the store, called officials to report what he’d seen.
Two people were injured in La Grange shooting on Monday with one person taken for medical attention. The Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a person shot in the road on Lake Pines Dr in La Grange.
A shooting occurred on Williams Loop Road south of Kinston this afternoon. The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting.

A pillar of Kinston’s team over the past three seasons will be moving further south next season. Vikings stalwart Damian Dunn will be transferring to Meadowcreek High School in Norcross, Ga. for his senior campaign. Dunn was a three-year starter for Kinston.
