ElectriCites Awards Grant to City of Kinston for Downtown Revitalization
Downtown Kinston Revitalization has been awarded a Downtown Revitalization grant from ElectriCities to support the redesign of the Buddy and Mary Mac Ritch All-American City Park. The overall project will involve aesthetic and functional enhancements like benches, tree planting, lighting along the railway, an internally-lit sculpture, a sensory path, and new signage.

Humphrey presents Allstate Foundation Helping Hands Grant to LCC
Allstate Agent and NC Representative Chris Humphrey (second from left) presented a $500 Helping Hands Grant from The Allstate Foundation to Lenoir Community College President Dr. Rusty Hunt. Greene County awarded $1.89 million to expand high-speed broadband to 637 unserved locations
Greene County has been awarded $1,892,976 through the State of North Carolina’s Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) Program to bring high-speed internet to 637 unserved homes and businesses. This important project is part of the County’s continued commitment to making sure every resident, no matter where they live, has access to reliable broadband service.
$1.9M grant strengthens Global TransPark infrastructure
Lenoir County and the North Carolina Global TransPark have secured a $1.9 million Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) grant to upgrade sewer infrastructure at the TransPark. Announced by Governor Josh Stein, the funding will support the U.S. Navy’s new Fleet Readiness Center.
The Women’s Fund of North Carolina, a fund of the North Carolina Community Foundation, has awarded $20,000 in grants to five organizations working to address housing security for women.
Arendell Parrott Academy awarded $250,000 for agriculture education program
The N.C. Tobacco Trust Fund Commission (NCTTFC) awarded more than $6.6 million through 26 grants for agricultural and economic initiatives across the state. These grants place a high priority on projects that stimulate the agricultural economy, train current and future farmers and help farmers execute innovative ideas.
Downtown board approves $25,000 for Façade Grants program
The Downtown Kinston Revitalization Board approved $25,000 in funds at its August meeting to support the Building Improvement Façade Grant. This matching grant program is designed to assist property owners within the Municipal Service District (MSD) in making improvements to the exterior of their buildings, encouraging investment and maintaining the appearance of the downtown area.
Lenoir County SAFE secures grant for crucial violence intervention services
The Governor's Crime Commission on Sept. 5 voted to approve $3.5 million for grants to provide violence intervention programs. Commissioners also discussed critical challenges facing the state’s crime victim service providers and law enforcement agencies.
EPA funds Lenoir County $1 million for development assessments
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has funded a Lenoir County grant application for $1 million as part of the EPA’s Brownfields Coalition Assessment grant program.
Greene County Schools boost breakfast access with new grant
Governor Roy Cooper announced $1.3 million in grants to 42 public school districts and public charter schools across North Carolina to expand access to healthy school breakfast for more than 51,000 students. The NC Innovative School Breakfast Grants were funded through federal funds directed by the Governor in October 2023.

LCPS lands $52 million for new E.B. Frink Middle School
Lenoir County Public Schools has been awarded a $52 million grant for school construction. State Superintendent Catherine Truitt announced LCPS received the grant which will allow the school system to replace E.B. Frink Middle School. Previously, the Lenoir County Commissioners approved a $5 million match necessary to receive the grant.

Senator Jim Perry, (R- Craven, Beaufort, Lenoir) announced the City of Kinston has been awarded a $2,000,000 grant for the Adkin Branch Flood Mitigation phase I construction project during a special round of funding from the North Carolina Land and Water Fund.

The 8th Judicial District receives federal funding to continue life saving work
The 8th Judicial District, which includes Greene, Lenoir and Wayne Counties, has been awarded a $700,000.00 grant by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance to operate an Adult Accountability and Recovery Court (AARC). This Court will serve persons with a substance use disorder who have related criminal charges. Participants will be given the opportunity to participate in treatment and supportive recovery services as opposed to being incarcerated.
LCPS will add SROs, update technology with safety grant
Lenoir County Public Schools will use a $282,000 grant from the state to increase the number of school resource officers in the district and to upgrade technology essential for school security.
North Carolina's Southeast approves 23 product development grant awards
North Carolina’s Southeast has approved 23 applications from its Product Development Fund. The funds, which will boost the development and enhancement of industrial sites and shell buildings across the Southeast’s 18 counties, stem from a $5 million appropriation last year from the North Carolina General Assembly.
