Downtown Kinston Revitalization has been awarded a Downtown Revitalization grant from ElectriCities to support the redesign of the Buddy and Mary Mac Ritch All-American City Park. The overall project will involve aesthetic and functional enhancements like benches, tree planting, lighting along the railway, an internally-lit sculpture, a sensory path, and new signage.

Greene County has been awarded $1,892,976 through the State of North Carolina’s Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) Program to bring high-speed internet to 637 unserved homes and businesses. The 8th Judicial District, which includes Greene, Lenoir and Wayne Counties, has been awarded a $700,000.00 grant by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance to operate an Adult Accountability and Recovery Court (AARC). This Court will serve persons with a substance use disorder who have related criminal charges. Participants will be given the opportunity to participate in treatment and supportive recovery services as opposed to being incarcerated.

North Carolina’s Southeast has approved 23 applications from its Product Development Fund. The funds, which will boost the development and enhancement of industrial sites and shell buildings across the Southeast’s 18 counties, stem from a $5 million appropriation last year from the North Carolina General Assembly.
