La Grange Fire Department announced on their social media page they lost a fine man and friend in David Holmes. Holmes was a retired La Grange Fire Chief, an active La Grange Captain and an active La Grange Town Council member.

According to sources, an employee at Canady’s Heavy Truck Parts at 5779 Hwy 70 was removing parts this afternoon and caught a fuel line on fire. Two tractor-trailers were damaged. North Lenoir Fire and Rescue and La Grange Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call. No injuries report.
UPDATE: According to Lenoir County Fire Marshall Dustin Burkett, Lenoir County Emergency Services has identified the victim from the fatal fire on Saturday, Dec. 28 on Hwy 258 as William Russell, 71 years of age.
