Spirit AeroSystems recently donated $10,000 to Lenoir/Greene United Way. The donation is part of their annual investment in local community organizations through their Good Neighbor Fund. The funds given to Lenoir/Greene United Way will be distributed to their 17 area nonprofit partner organizations.
As I sat thinking about what I should write to help launch our annual campaign, what inspiring words I felt most fit now and this time…the message quickly became very clear to me. To be honest, the last few years have been tough.
Lenoir/Greene United Way kicked off their annual fundraising campaign for 2022 with a special virtual event. Lenox China, a longtime supporter of Lenoir/Greene United Way has donated four beautiful china patterns made right here in Kinston to be sold locally to support our community. All proceeds from the china sale will go directly back into United Way’s Annual Campaign. The china will be sold per piece and is first come, first serve. Significant financial assistance from Lenoir/Greene United Way will help Lenoir County Public Schools provide backpacks and school supplies to students who most need them.
Lenoir/Greene United Way will be hosting their Midsummer Night’s Dream on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Kinston Country Club. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the pool courtyard with appetizers and a specialty cocktail. At 6:30 p.m., guests will make their way indoors for a special presentation followed by dinner and entertainment provided by “Richberg and Crain Project.”
Lenoir/Greene United Way will be celebrating the launch of their annual campaign a little differently this year. The organization, which helps to fund 16 area nonprofits is hosting a contest inviting the community to help “guess the theme” of their new campaign.

Governor Roy Cooper has announced that 2-1-1 is the number to call for assistance and resources related to the COVID-19 coronavirus. NC 2-1-1 is an information and referral service, operated by United Way of North Carolina, where families and individuals can obtain free and confidential information on health and human service resources within their community 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Resources are available in most languages.
