The Greene County Elections office is moving from 110 SE First Street in Snow Hill (behind the courthouse), to their new office location at 104 Hines Street also in Snow Hill. The new office location is where the old Building Inspection and Greene County Transportation office was located.
Early voting for the 2021 Municipal Election ended on October 30, 2021. Listed below are the early voting numbers for Lenoir, Jones, and Greene Counties. As of 10 am today for Lenoir County, 313 people voted through the municipal election. This is down from the previous municipal election in 2017.
The US Supreme Court refused Republicans' request to overturn a decision by the State Board of Elections to extend the period from three to nine days because of the coronavirus pandemic, with a deadline of November 12. An absentee ballot received after 5 p.m. on Election Day will be counted only if they are postmarked on or before Election Day and received by mail no later than 5 p.m. November 12.
Two seats could change hands in the Snow Hill Board of Commissioners race. Incumbents Lorrine Washington and Donnell Hagans are up for re-election. Their challengers are Michael Rhodes and Diane Jones Andrews.
