Sunday night’s shooting incident started with a minor traffic accident in which the parties involved — Shy’mecca Epps and the 17-year-old juvenile and the victim (Amie Heath) and her boyfriend — agreed to settle between themselves and exchange money.
Officers on A-Squad conducted a traffic stop with Aaliah Anderson (27, Kinston). During the traffic stop officers suspected Anderson was impaired. After an investigation was complete, Anderson was arrested for Driving While Impaired.
In January, 2024, KPD's Violent Crime Action Team (VCAT) responded to drug complaints related to Iverson Ward. VCAT Detectives conducted an investigation and on February 27, 2024, obtained a search warrant for Ward's residence.
A-Squad was conducting a license checkpoint on Hwy 11 and Liberty Hill Road. Dorian Powell approached the checkpoint and officers observed narcotic violations. During the investigations, officers located cocaine and marijuana.
On February 21, 2024, members of the Kinston Police Department were called to assist the Lenoir Department of Social Services at an apartment in Carver Courts Housing Community after two small children were found malnourished and home alone.
Officers on D-Squad made contact with Anthony Gilliam (51 of Wilson) and Tahrique Watson (27 of Wilson) for a possible Trespass violation. During this incident, officers located a concealed firearm.
KPD Officers responded to a report of a Hit & Run at Old Snow Hill Road and E Highland Avenue. While on scene and investigating the incident, officers were notified of a second Hit & Run at Pierce Road and N Queen Street.
Over the past several months, members of the Kinston Police Department have noticed a significant increase in the number of checks stolen after being mailed to various businesses located in Kinston.
Over the last two months, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, along with NC ALE Agents, and Farmville PD Narcotics Detective, conducted several drug investigations throughout Greene County. During the last week Investigators served search warrants at three different locations, which lead to arrests on several felony drug charges.
C-Squad officers received information related to a vehicle stolen from Wilmington NC. Officers located the vehicle traveling on HWY 11 and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, Sklyer Potter (22, Lenoir County) and Andrea Milhoan (35, Lenoir County) were taken into custody. Milhoan, a convicted felon was also in possession of firearm. During a search, officers located over 50 grams of marijuana packed for distribution and a concealed firearm. Freeman was arrested without incident and placed in the LC Jail for the following:
Officers on C-Squad responded to a report of someone attempting to use a stolen bank card at McDonalds. Officers arrived and found Mohnee Bostic (26, Snow Hill, NC) at the scene in possession of the stolen bank card and a stolen vehicle. Bostic was arrested and charged with the following:
